Repeat Prescriptions

For private patients, there is a fee for prescription requests. Repeat prescriptions are free for GMS patients under the Medical Card scheme.

We require at least five working days’ notice to process repeat prescriptions. Please ensure you order your prescription early to avoid delays or disappointment, as all prescription requests are carefully reviewed, which takes time.

If you have a new prescription from a consultant or hospital, please contact your pharmacist in the first instance to ensure a prompt supply. Pharmacies can forward prescription details securely to us via Healthmail or other approved channels if required.

Regular attendance with your GP is essential for ongoing prescriptions.

Appointment Cancellations

If you cannot attend your appointment, please cancel at least one full working day in advance. This allows us to offer the slot to another patient, as demand for appointments can be high.

Infectious Symptoms

To protect our patients and staff, we isolate anyone with infectious symptoms. If you have symptoms, you will be asked to check in by phone and wait in your car until called for your appointment.

Emergencies

In the event of an emergency or a critically unwell patient, they will be given priority. This may cause unavoidable delays, and we appreciate your patience and understanding in such situations.

New Patients

Where we have capacity, we welcome all new patients - Medical Card, Doctor Visit Card, Under 8, Over 70, and private patients. Our new patient form can be completed online.

Doctor / Nurses

You are welcome to see any doctor or nurse of your choice. However, for continuity of care, we encourage patients to see the same doctor or nurse for ongoing concerns whenever possible.

How We Communicate

Long Mile Medical communicates with patients through text messages, emails, phone calls, and postal mail to ensure you receive important updates and appointment reminders.

Results

Please contact us directly for results.

We aim to deliver blood test results within three weeks. While many results are available sooner, some tests may take longer due to processing and review. A follow-up appointment may be required in certain cases.

For blood tests requested by a consultant or external clinic, please provide a lab form or a written list, ensuring the consultant’s or doctor’s name and role are clearly noted.
